NEEDED: BATH-TOWELS FOR MID-WIFE KITS!
Although there as been a significant number of towels donated for mid-wife kits, we can still use many more to complete the kits for which we have the other materials. If you would like to participate in providing these towles, you can make a donation fo pocket change to the container in the Tower Room and towels will be purchased perhaps at WalMart where we can get towels like the one displayed for less than $1.60 with employee discount. If you have towels that you are willing to part with of a size close to the display towel, they would be welcomed as well. Thank you for whatever type of donation your heart moves you to make!
...compiled six food boxes to which WELCA included store certificates for meat. These were also distributed through the Anonymous Santa Program. In addition,
several circles brought or sent cookies, gift certificates, or plants to shut-ins, college students and service people. A thank you to our women who were involved in all of these offerings of love and care!
we are still collecting items for midwife kits and used sheets to be made into bandages for areas of extreme need! Another "WELCA Workday" will be coming up in the near future to bundle these items and pack them for delivery to Global Health Ministries, as well as to make corrections to remaining cookbooks.
a WELCA Circle in the past and feel that 2008 is the year you can do so, please feel welcome to attend any of the four circles! Three circles meet in the afternoon and one in the evening.
You can contact the church office for details on the meeting times, dates, and circle leaders. These are wonderful friendship and support groups!
("Annual" means over 70 years!) held on the fourth Thursday in October, was a resounding success...AGAIN!! This is a very labor-intensive operation requiring the efforts and dedication of numerous people. Without these efforts the affair could not be held. From the planning meetings, to the post-dinner "lessons learned" meetings, countless hours are put in by these hard-working folks. It is with heartfelt gratitude that the Spring Lake Lutheran Church WELCA offers its warmest and most sincere THANK YOU'S to all who participated. Thanks, too, to the hundreds of people who, in some cases, traveled long distances to enjoy this wonderful traditional Swedish meal.
