A new resource on prayer has been launched on the ELCA website at www.ELCA.org/prayer.
Not only does the new site provide resources for individuals and congregations seeking to expand their prayer life; but through scripture, art, and music, the user is invited to take time for prayer.
There is no doubt that more and more people are using computers on a regular basis. Hopefully, www.ELCA.org/prayer will become a favorite site,
providing inspiration and opportunities for personal devotional time. Imagine going to the ELCA prayer website the first thing in the morning, at a break in a busy day at the office, or as the last thing before
turning the computer off at the end of the day. In addition, prayer requests can be submitted on the ELCA prayer site.
These requests are then forwarded to participating congregations in the ELCA "prayingchurch" network who have committed to pray for these requests for 30 days. Interested congregations who want to register to be part of the ELCA "prayingchurch" network can do so on-line at the prayer site.
www.ELCA.org/prayer, is developed in response to the Call to Prayer issued in the ELCA Evangelism Strategy "Sharing Faith in a New Century: A Vision for Evangelism in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America" adopted at the 2003 Churchwide Assembly. The goal identified in the first objective in the strategy is to "activate and mobilize this church to pray for renewal that is grounded in the Word." Additional evangelism resources can be found at www.ELCA.org/dcm/evangelism.
There are literally countless websites and pages offering all types of prayer resources. Simply type "prayers" in a Google search bar and open the world of prayer!
