Meet Pastor Sean!!

NEWPastor Sean and biker groupIt turns out that Pastor Sean is, among so many other things, a biker! Shown here in a group of such "bikers" at Nelson's Market in North Branch for a brief respite, one can see that the term "biker" should not be stereotyped...clearly this type of helmet would be a bad fit in what is thought of as a "conventional" biker group. Sean has been "wrenching" bikes (as in bicycles) for some years now to the point where he makes custom bicycles, fixes these and other bicycles, and has even been known to ride the "other" kind of "bike."Parsonage Harley

Nancy Maeker (St. Paul Area Synod of the ELCA) along with a good many clergy (some local and some not) conducted the Service for Ordination and Installation for a congregation that contained both members and non-members...people from near and far. It was, in this writer's opinion, a spectacular event. We can all address Sean as "Pastor," or "Pastor Sean" now!! We thank our Heavenly Father for putting Sean along with his wife, Krista, and their daughter, Saoirse (pronounced "seer-sha") in our midst, making him available for us to call as our new pastor! photo of Sean Whelan hikingThe photographs on the left and right are some taken of Sean as he was on a hiking trip in Wyoming (the state).

Our many thanks go out to Bishop Rogness and the Rev. Nancy Maeker for officiating over an absolutely splendid ceremony. Many thanks, too, to the members of the clergy also in attendance both officially and unofficially. A lot of people put in a lot of work in getting this ceremony planned and executed. Kudos to them. The church had never looked better!

Check out our new blog!

We are building a new blog for the church. In it, we will be discussing a wide range of issues...not the least of which will be "what is a Lutheran" and "what do they believe?" Although it is up and running now, it is not yet fully operational. Keep a watch here for further information.

"You're welcome!" At Spring Lake Lutheran Church these are not just words that we say after someone says "thank you." These are words that we say time and time again as we invite people to our worship and congregational activities. "YOU ARE WELCOME!"

Jesus and His followers...

...always had welcoming words to people who desired a closer relationship with God. Sometimes they would say, "Come and see."  John, chapter 1

Spring Lake Lutheran Church...

is people who love Jesus and each other. We love to worship together and we love to have fellowship events. We hope that you will always feel welcome here with us and we hope that you will "come and see" what God is doing through us. As the definition states above: Your arrival would give us pleasure and we hope that you will be blessed.
